Message from Severn Trent Water
As you aware with the hot weather set to continue we are experiencing a massive increase in water demand. Although we are have ramped up water production and have already put an extra 300 million litres of water into supply. There is plenty of raw water in our reservoirs we are appealing to all customers to consider how they are using water. At the moment the treated water we are outputting is being used the second it is pumped into the pipes and we are working hard to manage peak demand times.
We are working alongside councils to appeal to the public to reduce use, however we are receiving social media communications from members of the public in some areas, that they are seeing council teams out watering hanging baskets and green spaces across the region.
Although we understand the council wants to keep areas looking there best, unfortunately it is sending out mixed messages and we would please ask for your support to influence the public to conserve water during the hot dry weather. If you are also able to send out our water saving tips via the council communication channels that would really help to reinforce the message.
Please can you also review the following areas:
· Window and vehicle cleaning
· Street cleaning
· Toilet areas - check for uncontrolled urinals and or leaking toilets and automatic taps turn off
· Cleaning processes and wash down, check hoses not left running
· Any other areas around your site you may be able to save water
